Getting started in 1983
DeFelice Engineering's Founder, Brian DeFelice, worked in the manufacturing industry for many years before starting his own company. In that time he designed, oversaw, and built manufacturing machinery for military contracts which included missile components. These machines, jigs and fixtures were required to hold tight tolerances and repeat over thousands of parts monthly. Brian DeFelice created DeFelice Engineering in 1983. A building was purchased in New Palestine, Indiana and work began. He started off making recumbent bicycles & parts as well as jigs, dies, fixtures, and custom machinery.

Growing our Business
We have expanded our expertise and capabilities over the years to include many aspects of Manufacturing Machine maintenance/repairs, large diameter hydraulic pipe bending and installation, prototype development, on-site small and large sized machining.
We work regularly in the following industries and are familiar with how they function and run.

DeFelice has added a custom built horizontal honing machine to our equipment list. The hone is power fed with a stroke of up to 10 feet. We can now hone diameters of 7" to 22" with a 2HP spindle (with a load sensor for taper compensation).
Our equipment was expanding and the shop was getting a bit crowded.
We added 4000 sq. ft. in 2012 to keep up with our growing business

Printing Press Restoration
Around 2009 we stumble upon these neat pieces of antique machinery when someone contacted us that had a Chandler and Price Pilot that needed extensive casting repairs. While doing a full restore of the little press we became fascinated by these unique pieces of machinery. Curiosity lead to researching more about these letter presses and we discovered that there were many other types and sizes. After the completion of the Pilot found someone local with a 10 x 15 Chandler and Price Old Style for sale and took it on as a project. We had so much fun doing restoring the 10x15 that we decide to make it a side aspect to the business of designing and building production machinery and prototypes. Our experience in machinery restoration really aided us I the restoration of the first two presses. So far we have restored ten Chandler and Price printing presses.
